Dawn G - Client

My daughter had her braces on for just under 2years and the staff and receptionist couldnt of done any more to help. The receptionist is more then welcoming with booking in and sorting out any queries. The orthadentist made her feel comfortable and at ease with each visit explaining what they was doing.
Such a friendly and lovely clinic.

Elodie L - Client

Used this orthodontist to get my braces for almost two years now, staff have always been lovely, patient and efficient. Staff were always welcoming, polite and booked appointments that best suited me where possible. I definitely recommend this orthodontist to anyone.

Hemma - Client

Honestly if I could give this place 10 stars I would!!! Dr Dhopatkar is one of the best dentists around, from his demeanour to the way he handled my difficult daughter with a fear of the dentist. I wish all orthodontists were like him.

WELCOME TO SUTTON ORTHODONTIC CENTRE

Based in Sutton Coldfield, a short drive from Erdington, we are a specialist practice exclusively dedicated to providing the people of the Erdington area with the latest orthodontic treatments in a friendly and comfortable environment with state of the art equipment.

We offer a full range of NHS and private brace treatments including the invisible INVISALIGN  braces.

Your smile is one of your most valuable assets, it’s often the first thing people notice about you. Orthodontic treatment is usually aimed at straightening teeth and correcting bite problems but at Sutton Orthodontic Centre we are concerned not only with the correction of teeth, but also that of the facial profile.

Our goal is to provide you with a smile you will be proud of and be the first place of call for Erdington Orthodontics.

WHY US?

Here at SOC you get to see highly qualified Orthodontic Specialists. Our Principal orthodontist is trained to NHS Consultant level and has been Head of Orthodontics at the University of Birmingham. We see many NHS patients after referral from their own General Dentist but we also treat plenty of private patients of all ages. If you’ve seen the adverts on TV for clear braces and wonder if they’re right for you, come and see us for a specialist opinion. We can offer straight forward fixed braces or the clear Invisalign appliances. We will spend time to tailor treatment options for you so you can get the best possible results. Because we are specialists we can discuss the full range of options available and we will then let you make up your own mind with no hard sell.

Don’t be put off by the assumption of price, We offer the facility to split payments during treatment to help you manage the cost of treatment. Age is no limit.

Dentistry is our profession, but the people of Erdington are our focus.

YOUR FIRST VISIT

When we see you for the first time the orthodontist will examine your face, mouth and teeth and take any necessary X-Rays, photos or digital scans of your teeth. No actual orthodontic treatment will be carried out at this visit. The orthodontist will then be able to provide you with a detailed treatment plan.

We offer a full range of orthodontic treatments, including fixed and removable braces as well as the ‘clear’ ceramic options. Clear ‘Invisalign’ braces are also available. It should be noted that not all appliances are suitable or available for all cases. Suitable options will be discussed with you at your treatment planning visit.

How long will it take and is Orthodontics painful?

Depending on the actual treatment required orthodontics can take between 6 to 24 months. For a more precise timescale please contact us for more details. Having the brace fitted is not painful but it is common to have slightly tender teeth for 3-5 days after fitting and each adjustment appointment.

How often will I need to be seen?

You will need regular visits during treatment for the brace to be adjusted. You may be charged for missed appointments.

What about toothbrushing and can I eat normally?

If you do not keep your teeth and brace clean you may find there is permanent scarring of your teeth which will defeat the object of having treatment to improve the appearance of your teeth. Yes, you should be able to eat normally. However, for your treatment to work quickly and well it is essential that you look after your teeth and your brace. You should:

  • Avoid eating toffees, boiled sweets, sugared chewing gum, hard or chewy chocolate bars, etc.
  • Avoid fizzy drinks and excessive amounts of fruit juice.
  • Take care when eating hard foods which might damage the brace.
If teeth need to be extracted, who will do this?

Your own dentist usually does this.

What happens after treatment?

Once the active phase of your treatment is finished your teeth will try and return to their original positions. You will need to wear a retaining brace. These can be of the fixed or removable variety and the actual length of time they have to be worn is variable. However, if you want a guarantee that the teeth will not move following treatment then you must wear retainers of some sort on a long term basis.

How successful is orthodontic treatment?

This depends on your commitment level. Good patients get good results, we aim to provide the very best in Birmingham Orthodontics however we also require your commitment to get the best out of your orthodontic treatment.
